CONNOR Coyle is ready for his upcoming challenge. The US-based middleweight will face off against Kyle Lomotey at Barnsley’s Oakwell Football Stadium tomorrow evening as part of the Zak Chelli-Callum Simpson support act. The eight-round fight is crucial for Coyle, who holds a record of 20-0 (9 KOs).
Coyle is eager to move past domestic level competition, with his sights set on facing Erislandy Lara. He believes Lara’s Cuban background and world title experience make him a formidable opponent. The 34-year-old Irishman is excited about the prospect of sharing the ring with Lara, the slick southpaw operator and WBA title holder.
“Lara will definitely be on my radar for my next fight, potentially after August 3rd. The middleweight division is wide open, and I believe I can compete with anyone in the world,” Coyle told Boxing News.
While Lara continues his successful career, middleweight rival Janibek Alimkhanuly is focused on recovering from a recent weight issue that caused him to withdraw from a fight.
Coyle sympathizes with Alimkhanuly’s weight struggles and hopes for his well-being. Making weight is a critical part of a boxer’s career, and Coyle has his own strategies to manage his weight efficiently.
Looking ahead, Coyle is interested in the upcoming fight between Hamzah Sheeraz and Tyler Denny for the European title on September 21. He believes Sheeraz may have the edge in that fight.
Coyle is eager to face tough opponents like the winner of the Sheeraz-Denny fight or competitors in the Liam Smith vs. Josh Kelly match. He knows a significant opportunity lies ahead if he defeats Kyle Lomotey at Oakwell.
“I’d be ready for any of those fights. I want to fight the best of the best and seize the opportunities that come my way,” Coyle said.
Coyle understands the importance of not letting valuable opportunities slip through his fingers once again.
