Celta claimed a dramatic win in their previous fixture in the league, as they came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Real Betis. Gabri Veiga scored twice in that fixture, before the crucial fourth goal to claim the points was netted by Joseph Aldoo in the 70th minute.
