With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cathy Jo Myers, 75, of Anchorage, formerly of Altoona, on Sept. 15, 2022, after a courageous six-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her loving husband, Steve, was by her side.
Cathy was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Richard and Marie Patterson.
On Sept. 9, 1967, she married her childhood sweetheart, Stephen A. Myers, at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona. They recently commemorated their 55th anniversary.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Stephen; their children and family: Marie and Lance Stevens, Melissa Myers, Paul and Tara Myers and Boston Terrier, Matilda; grandchildren: Kiley Stevens, Alex Stevens and Benjamin Myers; her sister, Tina Rogers; brothers, Steve and Scott Patterson; and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cathy was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School. As an accomplished insurance underwriter in Alaska for more than 25 years, she developed many life-long treasured friendships. She was proud to be a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Alaska, actively serving as secretary.
Cathy led a full life with Steve and their children, traveling to many parts of the world as a military wife, enjoying each new endeavor with her zest for life and devotion to her family, leaving golden memories to be cherished.
An adored mother, grandmother and beloved wife, she was a beautiful and selfless soul who had a positive influence on everyone who knew her. She had compassion for people and animals alike and an inspiration of strength, all-encompassing love and joy of life.
