Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the Premier League standings has been reduced to just two points. The Gunners will be looking to get back on track this weekend when they take on relegation threatened Nottingham Forest.
Premier League Preview
It has been a strong start to the 2022-23 season for Arsenal, as they currently sit top of the standings after eleven rounds of fixtures. However, they now boast just a two-point advantage over Manchester City coming into this weekend’s games, which could mean that they may kick off against Nottingham Forest sitting second. Arsenal’s four-game winning run was ended in their previous fixture, as they could only play out a draw against Southampton.
It was the first draw that Arsenal had been held to this season, and it was only the second game that they have failed to win in 12. The Gunners bossed the early proceedings in that fixture, and went ahead inside the opening eleven minutes through Granit Xhaka. However, they were pegged back in the second half, with the Saints levelling the scores with 25 minutes remaining.
Things don’t get much easier for Nottingham Forest this weekend, as they look to get the three points that will lift them out of the relegation places. Forest were deserved winners in their previous Premier League fixture, as they picked up a famous 1-0 win at the City Ground against Liverpool.
That was only their second league victory of the season, but it was much-needed, as it ensures that they remain within touching distance of the pack. Forest will need to find a better attacking outlet as the season progresses, as they have scored just eight goals this term, which is the second fewest of any team in the Premier League.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Head to Head
This will be the first top-flight meeting between the sides since January 1999. Arsenal has won each of the previous three, while Forest haven’t won away at Arsenal since an FA Cup tie in 1988. Their last league away win was in 1987. However, Forest did beat the Gunners in the FA Cup last season at the City Ground.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Forest likely built a lot of confidence following their win against Liverpool, but this is a completely different challenge away from home against Arsenal. We struggle to see past the Gunners, but we could see it being a much tighter affair, with just one goal separating the sides.
