Leigh Wood (Featherweight contender)
I’d like to see him retire, to be honest. He has been great for the sport and has entertained us all for a very long time. I’d like to now see him put his health first. Obviously, though, it has to be his decision. It’s down to him.
Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)
I would like to see him hang up the gloves. After being a pro for over 15 years and having a good career – winning the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles and boxing for the world title twice – there is nothing more he can achieve or prove. If the people around Derek really care about his wellbeing, they will advise him to call it a day. But, at the end of the day, the decision is down to Derek, and, sadly, sometimes the last person to realise it is over is the fighter.
Chris Billam-Smith (European cruiserweight champion)
I’d like to see him retire. He has taken a lot of punishing losses and entertained us all enough. I imagine he has done well financially and he now shouldn’t just become cannon fodder for fringe world-level contenders.
Dan Morley (Professional welterweight)
Chisora has been a brilliant servant to British boxing. He is always willing to fight the best and has been in some great fights. He has revitalised his career impressively and provided so much entertainment, fighting most of the big names of his era and selling out stadiums. Personally, I think the time is right for him to retire. He has taken a lot of heavy shots against big hitters over a long career and I wouldn’t want to see him go on too long and get seriously hurt.
