Will There Be A Genshin Impact Christmas Event?

While Travelers won’t expect a full Christmas event in Genshin Impact, is a similar event coming to Teyvat in future updates?

The Holiday season is fast approaching, and gamers will soon deck the halls with Christmas joy, sharing the holiday spirit with others online. However, while gift-giving and receiving will take center stage, the land of Teyvat is less likely to celebrate the holidays in Genshin Impact.

Staying true to their stance of not featuring real-world special events and days of observances in-game doesn’t mean HoYoverse can’t have a unique take on Christmas. So, for Travelers looking for a place to celebrate the festive season, we determine whether there’ll be a Christmas event in Genshin Impact.

Is There A Christmas Event Planned For Genshin Impact?

Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has previously stated that they try not to recreate real-world observances like Halloween to adhere to the game’s lore.

While this may be practiced by other notable gacha games like GranBlue Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, the same can’t be said for Genshin Impact.

The reason is simple: China’s strict gaming regulations. However, the situation is slightly different for Christmas and the Holiday season. While these seasonal events are often timed to correspond with their real-life occurrence, this is a characteristic HoYoverse doesn’t share with other developers.

In this regard, it’s highly unlikely that the developer will feature a Christmas-themed event in Genshin Impact, but it does have a slight catch. While it won’t be a fully-fledged Christmas event, rather akin to it, there was an event that featured themes that could be associated with this global celebration.

Most notably, the developer released an area in Mondstadt, Dragonspine, in the Genshin Impact 1.2 update, highlighted by its snow-capped mountains and mysterious ruins across the region.

Deeply associated with the downfall of Durin, its lore was further expanded in the Genshin Impact 2.3 update with the launch of the Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event.

For the “Dragonspine Special Training” chapter, Travelers were tasked to complete its challenges to receive rewards and collect components for building Puffy Snowman.

Then after constructing the Snowmen using the components for the “Born of the Snow” chapter, they received additional rewards and unlocked the “Mysterious Challenge” chapter.

Furthermore, Travelers could have these Snowman components added to their Serenitea Pot housing system, meaning they could build snowmen in time for Christmas.

Whether this event will receive a rerun has yet to be determined, the final game update, version 3.3 for Genshin Impact, arrives on 7th December 2022 according to the adjusted update schedule window.

For now, we await further developments on a possible Christmas event for Genshin Impact once the 3.3 closed beta begins sometime in November 2022 after the 3.2 update’s release. Likewise, we will endeavor to provide more updates once more reliable information is available.
