After three incredible maps, w7m esports have moved into the Six Invitational 2023 grand-final and have knocked Oxygen Esports down to the lower bracket.
The series beggared belief at times, as w7m started off by choking Oxygen in a 7-1 fashion on their own map pick. However, the momentum swung wildly in the opposite direction as Oxygen took w7m’s map pick in a flawless, 7-0 manner.
It was all to play for on the third map, with both teams hardly tired out after having only played 15 rounds total across both maps — the same number of rounds Astralis and KOI played on their third map earlier.
Playing on Clubhouse, Oxygen seemed to be carrying on from where they had left off on the second map. Despite being on the attack, the North Americans surged to a 3-1 lead. However, w7m brought things back and took three rounds running to lead 4-3.
Oxygen kept fighting, making things all square at 5-5, but could not keep their defences solid against w7m’s final two attacks. They fell 5-7 and lost after an unbelievable series and will play the winner between Astralis and G2 Esports tomorrow in the lower bracket.
Meanwhile, w7m esports are now one BO5 series away from lifting the Six Invitational caber, which would mark the second Invitational win for Julio “Julio” Giacomelli.
