Panel: If you could watch just one rematch this year, which one would you choose and why?

Jordan Gill (Former European featherweight champion)

The immediate fight that comes in to mind is Mauricio Lara vs Leigh Wood 2. The first fight was epic and I’m sure it would be a sell-out again in Nottingham. I’d like to see Leigh regain his title and become a two-time champ.

Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)

It would have to be Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall. The first fight was so controversial and the majority of boxing people believed that Catterall was hard done-by from the judges. It would be a good way to show the boxing fans that it was either a bad day at the office for Taylor and that he took Catterall lightly, or that Jack Catterall is simply the better fighter and has Josh’s number.

Marcus Morrison (Middleweight contender)

There are a few good rematches I’d like to see again. Personally, though, and not just because she’s a stablemate of mine, I’d love to see the Tasha Jonas and Katie Taylor rematch. There’s both amateur and professional history there – two great and very close fights – and there would be plenty on the line. I really hope that rematch can be made this year.

Chris McKenna (Journalist)

There’s quite a few for me but I think Dmitry Bivol against Canelo Alvarez carries the most intrigue. Can Canelo conquer a true light-heavyweight champion or is the size just too much for even a man of his talent? I’d want to see it at light-heavyweight as I don’t think it is fair for Bivol to be brought down to super-middleweight.
