Nate Collins (British and Commonwealth featherweight champion)
As sad as it is, because I like supporting British fighters, John Ryder has no chance at all against Canelo and I don’t see him lasting to the end of the fight. That’s no shame, though. As long as he goes out and puts on a performance, he can be happy. Canelo will go down as a great.
Dave Allen (Heavyweight contender)
I think John is more than capable of holding his own and will shock many, I think he will go 12 rounds and it will be a competitive fight, but his chances of getting a result are slim to none.
Tunde Ajayi (Coach)
John is a great guy and a worthy adversary for Canelo and I wouldn’t be surprised if John does it. He deserves his shot. He has worked hard to be in this position and you never know. Lady Luck and great timing may be on John’s side. We don’t know the effects of the Dmitry Bivol loss on Canelo’s mentality so it will be interesting to see how he has regrouped. Having said that, Canelo is an all-time great.
Chris McKenna (Journalist)
It’s going to be tough for Ryder as Canelo has proven to be a formidable force against British opposition. You feel the only chance he has of winning is by stopping Canelo given where the fight is – and even light-heavyweights couldn’t manage that.
