Man United vs Everton Prediction: FA Cup | 06.01.2023

There is a feel-good mood around Old Trafford coming into the third round of the FA Cup. The Red Devils have been perfect since returning to action following the World Cup, and they will be looking to book their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a home victory against Everton on Friday night.

FA Cup Preview

There is a growing sense that Erik ten Hag’s plans at Manchester United are slowly fitting into place. The Red Devils certainly look to be a team where all the players are pulling in the same direction, and their hunt for a piece of silverware continues on Friday night. United come into the FA Cup fixture after a fine 3-0 home win against Bournemouth in midweek, as Marcus Rashford continued his hot streak in front of goal with another effort. Meanwhile, Casemiro and Luke Shaw also continued their fine form with goals.

United has a prolific record at this stage of the FA Cup, as they have been eliminated just twice in their previous 37 third round ties. However, both of those defeats were suffered at Old Trafford, against Leeds in 2010 and Swansea in 2014.

At the very least, the FA Cup will serve as a welcome break from league action for Everton, as the Toffees look set to be in a battle to stave off relegation this term. Everton’s poor run of form dipped to a new low in midweek, as they were hammered 4-1 at Goodison Park by Brighton. Pressure is certainly growing on Frank Lampard, but he has a great record as both player and coach in the FA Cup against Manchester United, as he is unbeaten in four previous fixtures.

The Toffees also have a fine track record in getting through the third round, as they have progressed from ten of their previous 14 third round ties. However, all four previous defeats at this stage have come in their only fixtures against Premier League opposition.

Manchester United vs Everton Head to Head

Everton’s record at Old Trafford is an extremely poor one, as they have claimed just a single victory on their previous 29 visits. Meanwhile, this is the 13th time that the sides have met in the FA Cup, with both teams having recorded six victories apiece.
