They were outclassed in front of their home fans, and were eventually beaten by a 4-1 margin by Fiorentina. Genoa managed just two shots on target in that defeat, and a huge performance will be needed this weekend to get back on track.
However, they are historically a side that have bounced back from a matchday one defeat, as they have only lost each of their opening two matches to start a Serie A season on two occasions in the previous 60 seasons. However, the most recent of those did come in 2021-22.
