The following is a list of potential candidates for JMU’s vacant head football coaching position after Curt Cignetti’s reported departure for Indiana. While an internal hire is unlikely according to Athletic Director Jeff Bourne, possible candidates include Bob Chesney from Holy Cross, Joe Harasymiak from Rutgers, and Manny Diaz from Penn State. Other names to monitor include Anthony Poindexter, Rich Rodriguez, Reggie Barlow, Willie Simmons, Drew Mehringer, Jerry Mack, Jay Hill, DeLane Fitzgerald, Bryan Stinespring, and even a joking suggestion of Brandon Staley from the Los Angeles Chargers.
