Meadowdale’s sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Brannon made an impressive effort in holding the Warriors to just one goal, which came from a penalty kick. Meadowdale’s Rachel Reitz celebrated her goal with teammates, giving Meadowdale a 2-1 lead in their playoff game against Edmonds-Woodway. Abby Peterson of Edmonds-Woodway also celebrated her successful penalty kick, which tied the score at 1-1. Meadowdale’s Hazel Maxwell directed a service from Rachel Reitz, scoring a goal and giving Meadowdale a 1-0 lead. Liliana Frank of Edmonds-Woodway cleared a ball in front of Grace Lunsford to prevent a goal. Meadowdale’s Hazel Maxwell and Edmonds-Woodway’s Abby Peterson battled for position near midfield, and E-W goalkeeper Meredith Eldridge made a great save. In the Girls Soccer District 1 playoffs opening round, Meadowdale defeated Edmonds-Woodway 2-1. Rachel Reitz scored the go-ahead goal during the 76th minute, securing the win for Meadowdale. Hazel Maxwell also scored a goal for Meadowdale, while Abby Peterson scored the only goal for Edmonds-Woodway. With this victory, Meadowdale advances to the tournament quarterfinals.
