Gull Lake Dam Road to close Monday – Brainerd Dispatch

BRAINERD — Gull Lake Dam Road/County Road 125 will close Monday, Oct. 10, at Highway 371 to pave the road and side entrances.

The road will close west of Highway 371 and reopen Friday, Oct. 14. A detour will follow Hartley Lake Road and Green Gables Road/County Road 126 back to Highway 371. The frontage road and gas station entrance at Gull Lake Dam Road will also close, and drivers should use Highway 371 for access.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises drivers to add extra time to their commute and watch for pedestrians or students waiting for buses along the neighborhood detour route.

Access has reopened to Green Gables Road and the Brainerd International Raceway from Highway 371, but off-road work will continue.

Work operations will cease for the winter in November, with crews returning in June to complete any remaining work, which will mainly be frontage road construction.

MnDOT reported when completed in June 2023, the 2-mile Highway 371 project will improve safety and access by installing three reduced conflict intersections — also known as J-turns — at Gull Lake Dam Road/County Road 125, Birchdale Road/BIR main entrance and Green Gables Road/County Road 126. The project will also install frontage roads along the east and west side of Highway 371.
