Gen.G Esports are kickstarting their return to the Pacific region by signing an all-Korean Valorant roster.
The global organization announced all six members of its roster for the upcoming VCT 2023 season.
The team consists of young up-and-comers who’ve competed with various squads in the Korean and Japanese regions.
Gen.G Esports will compete in the VCT Pacific league with an all-South Korean roster
After an unsuccessful run in the North American region in the VCT 2022 season, Gen.G decided to shift their attention to Asia, where they were accepted into Riot Games’ partnership program for the upcoming Pacific league.
Headlining the organization’s roster is Kim “Meteor” Tae-O, a Jett, Chamber, and Neon specialist, who Gen.G Esports acquired from Japanese esports organization Northeption.
Meteor was an integral part of Northeption’s success in the VCT 2022 season. He led the team to win the VCT Japan Stage 2 Challengers playoffs, defeating Zeta Division 3-1 in the grand final. Meteor also finished his playoff run with the second-highest ACS (Ability Combat Score), according to vlr.gg.
Joining Meteor are Lee “k1Ng” Seung-wa, Yu “TS” Tae-seok, and Yeom “eKo” Wang-ryong, three players from the On Sla2ers roster that made it to the final day of the VCT East Asia Last Chance qualifier. Unfortunately for On Sla2ers, their season ended when they were swept by Chinese squad Edward Gaming 3-0 in the grand final.
The remaining members of Gen.G Esports’ roster are Kang “iNTRO” Seung-gyun and Kim “Secret” Ha-jin, players who became free agents at the end of this season.
Secret competed in VCT Korea 2022 who last played for Desperado, while iNTRO spent the tail end of the year playing in VCT Japan with team REJECT.
The roster will be working alongside coach Lee “bail” Sung-jae, who was previously the head coach of Northeption’s Valorant squad.
The only non-Korean in Gen.G’s Valorant team is head coach Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit, a veteran coach known for his time on ORDER, Cloud9, and Gen.G Esports’ professional CS:GO rosters.

If all of Gen.G Esports’ newcomers are expected to play the same roles from their previous teams, Meteor will continue to be the primary fragger-playing agents like Jett, Chamber, and Neon.
TS will be the team’s smoke player, while eKo will continue to play agent-revealing initiators like Sova and Fade. K1ng, iNTRO, and Secret all have vast agent pools that can all fill in the holes in Gen.G’s comp.
The squad will make its international debut in February at the 30-team kickoff tournament in São Paulo, Brazil. In the meantime, the team is already headed to Seoul to begin training.
