Carlos Madison, 45, of 811 Elmira St., has been jailed on felony drug charges after he was allegedly involved in three separate sales of crack cocaine in the city to confidential informants between Feb. 1 and Feb. 8; two of the sales occurred at First and Park avenues while another took place at Washington Boulevard and Franklin Street, according to document filed at Judge Aaron Biichle’s office by NEU investigators. Following his arraignment on three counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone, Madison was incarcerated in lieu of $95,000 bail.
In another NEU case, Sharief Clay, 22, of Philadelphia, also known on the street as “Beefy,” has been charged with multiple felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of conspiracy after he allegedly sold various amounts of crack cocaine or fentanyl to informants and different locations in the city between last June 20 and July 29, according to court records. Clay was arraigned before Biichle and recommitted to the prison in lieu of $85,000 bail. He was jailed on no bail in late August on other drug charges after state troopers seized 48 bags of heroin, three packets of crack cocaine and a loaded handgun from the Mazda 3 he was driving in the 500 block of Eighth Avenue in the city, according to an affidavit
Also locked up on NEU charges is Eugene Brown, 33, of 434 Rural Ave., who allegedly sold cocaine to an informant on Saegers Station Road in Clinton Township on Jan. 24 and ecstasy pills to an undercover officer at Rural Avenue and Locust Street in the city on Feb. 3, according to court papers. Arraigned on two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone, Brown was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
In another NEU case, Michael Laquay Smith, 44, of Harrisburg, faces felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of cellphone for selling just under a gram of crack cocaine to an informant in the 300 block of Washington Boulevard in the city on Nov. 9, it was alleged in court papers. He is free on $50,000 bail.
In another case, city police have charged Sam L. Kelly, 51, of 1238 Memorial Ave., apartment 3, with possession of a controlled substance for having a bottle of Xanax that did not belong to him near Park Avenue and Rose Street on June 14, it was alleged in court paper. A bench warrant for his arrest was expected to be filed after he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing.
