Third-annual Art Hop comes

to Weirton and Wellsburg

WEIRTON — The Top of WV Convention and Visitors Bureau and Arts Council, alongside the Barn with Inn, will be hosting their third-annual Art Hop on Oct. 29.

The free all-day event will take place across six locations in Weirton and Wellsburg and feature the works of more than 30 artists, authors and performers. The stops in the Art Hop include the Historic Sarah Miller House, Martha’s Gallery, Brooke County Public Library, Millsop Community Center, Mary H. Weir Public Library and Summit Art Gallery. Participating artists range from painters to woodcarvers and potters to photographers.

Ridge Runners Delivery and Transportation will be providing a shuttle between locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At each stop, visitors can purchase artwork and signed books while visiting with local creators. They also will have their Art Hop “passports” stamped, and those who attend all six locations will receive a free entry into the grand prize drawing for a Fiesta Lights gift basket valued at more than $600. Additional tickets may be purchased for a chance to win.

At 7 p.m., Cloak and Dagger On the Air will perform “Tales from the Inner Sanctum” at the Summit Art Gallery. Admission to all the day’s events is free, but donations are appreciated.

At 11 a.m. the Sarah Miller House in Wellsburg will offer a lunch for $20 prepared by Chef Darcy Riggs, including a cranberry, turkey and white cheddar sandwich with onion apple jam and arugula, potato and leek soup and sugar cream pie. Space is limited, so lunch reservations should be made by e-mailing Chatman Neeley at barnwithinn@gmail.com by Oct. 25. In Weirton, Basil’s Sports Bar and Grill will offer 15 percent off all day for customers who present their Art Hop passports. Students from the John D. Rockefeller Career Center’s culinary program will be serving tailgate appetizers at the Summit Art Gallery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It’s wonderful to have the support of so many partners for this year’s Art Hop,” said Rachel Keeney, executive director of the CVB. “The community is coming together to enjoy the visual, written, performing and culinary arts in one day.”
