Two of the most entertaining teams in the Premier League this season will lock horns on Saturday, as Brighton and Brentford will both be looking for maximum points to keep alive their hopes of a European finish this term.
Premier League Preview
Brighton comes into this home fixture against Brentford narrowly above their rivals in the league standings. The Seagulls sit seventh overall, but they could move up to sixth this weekend depending on other results in the Premier League. Brighton has gone three without defeat in the league, and have won two matches over that period. They have also lost just once in their previous six matches.
The Seagulls were last in league action on March 15, as they recorded a 1-0 win over their local rivals Crystal Palace. Solly March scored the winning goal in that fixture after just 15 minutes. Since then, Brighton booked their place in the last four of the FA Cup, as they picked up a comfortable 5-0 home win against Grimsby Town before the international break.
Brentford will see this fixture as an opportunity to leapfrog their opponents in the league standings. The Bees have won twice in their previous four league matches, but they have lost just once in their last six. Brentford could also close the gap on the European spots on Saturday to just two points.
Thomas Frank’s side was held to a 1-1 draw in their previous fixture, as Leicester deservedly took a point at the Community Stadium. Mathias Jenson scored the goals for the Bees in that draw, but Sheldon Baptiste was sent off late in the match, meaning that he will be unavailable for this game on Saturday.
Brighton vs Brentford Head to Head
Brentford picked up maximum points in the previous meeting between the sides this season, as they landed a 2-0 success. However, each of the previous two meetings between the sides in the Premier League was won by Brighton.
Brighton vs Brentford Prediction
This should be an entertaining fixture on Saturday, as both Brighton and Brentford like to play on the front foot. However, given that both teams have failed to score in each of the previous three meetings, we could be short of goals this weekend. We will take a chance on Brentford completing a league double over the Seagulls.
