Anthony Joshua may seek Dubois rematch

ANTHONY Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes that a rematch with Daniel Dubois could still be on the cards despite the one-sided nature of last night’s Wembley Stadium showdown.

Despite the overwhelming defeat, a well-timed short right hand knocked Joshua out and shocked the 96,000-strong crowd after five rounds of intense action. AJ was knocked down multiple times and appeared to be struggling before the final blow.

Nevertheless, Eddie Hearn remained optimistic, highlighting Joshua’s determination and courage in defeat. Joshua almost seemed poised for a comeback just moments before the knockout.

While Dubois’ power was undeniable, there were doubts about his own resilience following previous losses to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk. However, Dubois silenced critics by defeating Joshua and cementing his status as a legitimate world champion.

“Full credit to Daniel Dubois, he put on a great performance,” commented Eddie Hearn after the fight.

Hearn also confirmed that he anticipates Joshua to pursue the rematch after a period of rest.

“He’s gaining confidence with each fight,” added Hearn, despite Joshua’s extensive career and experience in high-profile bouts.

Joshua often speaks of learning from experiences and returning stronger, portraying himself as a thinker. However, Dubois left little room for contemplation last night, suggesting a potential rematch may yield similar results.
