Ajinkya Rahane All Set To Play For Leicestershire In 2023 County Season

Indian Cricket Team’s senior right-handed batter Ajinkya Rahane has been missing from the Indian setup for quite some time. The batter played his last Test match way back in 2022 against South Africa and since then Shreyas Iyer has replaced him in the side. The former Vice Captain hasn’t been considered despite playing match-winning knocks for the team in the past.

Ajinkya Rahane has signed Leicestershire for the English summer where he will play 8 games & would be fully available for the One Day Championship. The batter earlier played for Hampshire way back in 2019 where he had a topsy-turvy outing. The batter would join Leicestershire after IPL 2023 as he is going to play for a new IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

“I had conversations with (Assistant Coach) Alfonso Thomas and (Head Coach) Paul Nixon, who had eyed Ajinkya in the past, so he was always on our radar. It was a case of seeing what the team needed, which was definitely a senior overseas batsman, so we are delighted to have secured someone of Ajinkya’s calibre.” he added.
