Major (Ret.) Michael R. Fredette born Oct. 8, 1955, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2021, at the age of 65, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Michael suffered from pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. He was so blessed to have his loving wife, Frieda, who took excellent care of him during his illness.
Michael was the son of the Gerard H. Fredette and Constance J. (Gabriel) and grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire.
In addition to his wife, Frieda, he is survived by two children, Alex Fredette and his wife, Amy, of Seattle, Washington, and Tiffany and her husband, Kevin, Murphree of Katy, Texas, as well of his five grandchildren, Gabriel A. Fredette, Zoey C. Fredette, Jude A. Fredette, Kyle A. Murphee and Kaleigh J. Murphree. He is also survived by three siblings, David G. Fredette of Nashua, Diane M. Bibeau and her husband, Donald, of Hampton, New Hampshire, and Mark D. Fredette and his wife, Lisa, of Nashua. He also is survived by several nephews and nieces, along with several grand-nephews, nieces and many cousins.
Michael was a graduate of Bishop Guertin High School in 1973. Michael also graduated from both the New Mexico State University and the Air Force Institute of Technology. Michael served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force for many years up to his retirement, retiring at the rank of major. His last positons within the Air Force was director, aerospace sciences, U.S. Air Force – Clemson University and assistant professor of aerospace studies U.S. Air Force – Gunter Air Force Station. Over his many years in the Air Force, Michael received many awards and commendations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Outstanding Excellence Award, National Defense Service Medal and Oversees Long Tour Ribbon.
Michael finished his civilian career as a project manager for Yokogawa Corporation of America, Rockwell Automation Inc.
Michael was an enthusiastic patriot; he had a very kind heart and always ready to help others. Michael’s body was donated to Wakes University School of Medicine for research, according to Michael’s wishes.
He had many interest and hobbies, especially geography and astronomy. He served as a volunteer treasurer and president for Fort Bend County Astronomy Club for more than eight years while he lived in Texas.
