JACK Catterall and Regis Prograis are set to face off on August 24 at Manchester’s Co-Op Live. This 140-pound bout against former two-time world champion Prograis is a well-deserved reward for Catterall, who recently avenged his loss to Josh Taylor.
This southpaw showdown will be a test of Jack’s world-class abilities and will mark the first-ever boxing event at the Co-Op indoor arena.
Taylor, a common opponent, handed Prograis his first career defeat in the WBSS final in 2019. Prograis suffered a wide loss to Devin Haney in late 2023, but sees the chance to defeat Catterall as a path back to the top.
However, ‘El Gato’ is not one to shy away from tough competition. “I’ve learned from past inactivity and am eager to face the best competition,” said Catterall.
“When presented with the opportunity to fight Regis Prograis on August 24, I immediately accepted. I refuse to be idle and am excited to settle the score in the ring on that day.”
Prograis, known as ‘Rougarou’, believes this fight is long overdue and is looking forward to facing Catterall, whom he considers one of the best at 140lbs.
“I see Jack as a top contender in the division and I am aiming to become a three-time world champion. This is the fight I’ve always wanted,” said Prograis.
Promoter Eddie Hearn expressed his excitement for the matchup, predicting a thrilling contest. “Jack Catterall is in top form and Regis Prograis is eager to make a statement in this fight. It’s going to be a great show on August 24 at this fantastic new arena,” said Hearn.
