A commendation of the exceptional standards and bold leadership of Editor Matt Christie, Boxing News, the oldest boxing magazine in the world, triumphed at this year’s Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Awards. The publication secured four out of six awards, as well as a Second-Place and two Third-Place finishes.
Competing against top writers and publications in the sport, Elliot Worsell, Thomas Hauser, Matt Christie, and Oliver Fennell clinched major victories. Additionally, regular BN contributor Lewis Watson received an honourable mention.
Worsell, previously a First-Place winner in Boxing Investigative Reporting, secured First Place in three categories this year: Boxing Event Coverage, Boxing Feature (over 1,500 words), and Boxing Feature (under 1,500 words).
He also claimed second place in Boxing Investigative Reporting for his piece, I Am the Referee: An Investigation of the British Boxing Board of Control’s Process for Appointing New Referees.
