The regular season was packed with a rigorous nine weeks of matches, and now the professional Korean league prepares for the LCK Spring 2024 playoffs.
Gen.G Lei is off to a promising start, having secured first place during the regular season. They also lead the All-LCK First Team. Also, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon from the team emerged victorious as both Player of the Split and Regular Season’s Most Valuable Player.
Potential roadblocks include T1, Hanwha Life Esports, KT Rolster, Dplus KIA, and Kwangdong Freecs, which stand between them and the championship. Among this competitive batch of six, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will prove triumphant after eight days of nail-biting League of Legends action.
Objective of the LCK Spring 2024 playoffs
The LCK Spring 2024 playoffs is the culminating event of the LCK Spring split, where the teams compete for the primary LCK championship of the year and the chance to qualify for MSI 2024.
Layout of the LCK Spring playoffs
For the LCK Spring 2024 playoffs, just the top six of the ten franchised esports organizations were able to qualify. The seeding for the playoffs is subject to their performance in the regular season.
The playoffs will kick off from round 2 in a double-elimination bracket format. The top two teams from the regular season, Gen.G and T1, have been exempted from round 1 and will automatically advance to round 2.
The third seed, Hanwha Life Esports, for round 1, has chosen Kwangdong Freecs as their competitors. The remaining team, Dplus KIA, will combat the fourth seed, KT Rolster.
In round 2, Gen.G, the seed one, will choose their contenders from the winners of round 1. The triumphant teams from round 2 will proceed to the winner’s final, while those losing will fall to the lower bracket.
The initial match of round 3 (the upper bracket final) determines the first finalist, with the losing team moving down to the lower bracket final (round 4) against the bottom bracket winner from the second match of round 3.
The lower bracket final’s winner then advances to the grand final, where they challenge the winner from the upper bracket final for the championship title.
The champion and the second-place team from the LCK Spring 2024 will represent the Korean region at MSI 2024.
