The Baldwin High School girls volleyball finished in fourth place in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I state tournament after a 25-21, 25-15 loss to Kamehameha Hawaii in the third-place match Friday at the Cannon Activities Center on the BYU-Hawaii campus in Laie, Oahu.
Kuulei Manaois had eight kills and two aces for the Bears (14-3), who earlier in the week became the first Maui Interscholastic League team since 2016 to make the D-I semifinals. Baldwin lost to eventual champion Kamehameha Kapalama on Thursday night.
Ariana Naipo added six kills and five digs, Amanda Naipo had four kills and seven digs, Lilinoe Paschoal had 18 assists and Natronai Anana had 11 digs for the Bears.
In the Division II fifth-place match, Hawaii Prep defeated MIL champion Seabury Hall 27-25, 25-19.
The Spartans (15-2) were led by Sofia Connor with 11 kills and 14 digs. Makalani Carey had seven kills and eight digs, Bella Palmer dished out 20 assists and Harmony Powers had 14 digs and two aces.
