It has been an excellent start to the 2022-23 season for Newcastle United, and they will be looking to maintain their excellent campaign by booking their spot in the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup. Newcastle have returned to action since the break already, as they have won back-to-back friendlies against Al-Hilal and Rayo Vallecano.
The Toon are yet to really show their best form in the EFL Cup this season, as they have edged past the previous two rounds. The Cherries currently sit 14th in the league standings, and the confidence should be high after picking up a deserved 3-0 win against Everton in their previous fixture. Bournemouth also beat the same rivals in the third round, as they picked up a huge 4-1 win on the road against the Toffees. In the second round, they needed penalties to edge past Norwich City.

This is the second meeting between the sides this season, as a 1-1 draw was played out in September. However, the Magpies have a strong record against the Cherries, as they are unbeaten in their previous six. Over that run, Newcastle has picked up three victories, with two coming at St James’ Park.
